I never heard this song when it was released in 1984 because nobody did. I’d never heard of the band, never heard of the album until YouTube happily suggested it a few months ago.
Wow.
Not only is the song spectacular, the entire album is. And the only reason I can think of they didn’t get at least some attention in 1984 was because there was so much great music, and so little space for it.
There was just no room for…Lynx. Not on the radio, not on MTv, not at the record store. And so they released one album called Be Wild that thankfully a few people remember.
The obscure song of the week is Stay Tonight, but the entire album is fantastic, especially Hold On, and Fury. There’s not much biographical information about them other than they came from Mexico and never released another album. Perhaps The Godfather Joe Anthony on 99.5 KISS in San Antonio played a few of their songs, but if so, they never caught on.
Luckily they live on by the Magic of YouTube, so check out Stay Tonight, as well as the rest of Be Wild. It’s a great album to listen to while drinking any wine from St. Julien in Bordeaux.
And if you haven’t read it, be sure to read my article all about The Godfather Joe Anthony and his influence on all things hard rock and heavy metal in the 70’s and 80’s, before music ended in the 90’s.
I love his stories and the wine picks!! The best on both things and he clearly knows what he’s doing.
